Introduction

Alab’s Access scheme was introduced with the aim of helping customers find their way through the maze of the new regulations governing hazardous waste and landfill waste acceptance criteria when these came into force in July 2005.

There is an annual membership fee, which entitles members to take advantage of a lower consignment note charge rate at Alab sites, and discounted analysis charges at a certified analytical laboratory.

We have two types of members. Some simply use their membership like a supermarket loyalty card, and take advantage of the lower consignment note charges. This soon recoups the cost of membership for them, and is what they want out of the scheme.

Others go further than this, and call upon us in a variety of ways. We visit sites and taking samples, and assess the results. We also offer staff training, and liaison with your customers (who are still largely ignorant of the legislation). We also help dig out information from the Internet and other sources.
